The projected spend on staging and advertising the shows is $33 million, with the Singapore Tourism Board expecting to double that figure in tourism receipts during the events. Dates for the event are still to be announced.
MTV and the tourism board estimate that the events will create up to 3,400 seasonal jobs, and attract an extra 150,000 foreign visitors each year.
Other projects are tailored for Singapore only, such as the Nickelodeon Musical, Nickelodeon Kids' Festival and marketing campaigns including the MTV Gig Guide and Unickly Singapore Passport.
"Singapore is a vibrant and important hub for Asian business and entertainment, making it the ideal home for MTV Networks' Asia-Pacific operations for the past 11 years," said MTV Networks Intl. prexy Bill Roedy. "Our latest initiative with the Singapore Tourism Board reflects our contribution to the diversity and spirit of Singapore, as it becomes an even bigger center of cultural influence recognized all over the world."
