LONDON -- Leopard Films, the independent U.K. producer behind HGTV's primetime hit "Cash in the Attic," has racked up a slew of commissions from North American broadcasters barely a year after setting up shop in New York.
"It's really taken off in the last six months," said CEO James Burstall. "We've sold three formats into the American market so far, and we've got two other major shows in paid development with A&E."
On the back of the success of "Cash in the Attic," HGTV's top-rated primetime show, the cabler has commissioned property series "Hidden Potential" (13 30-minute segs), which uses CGI to show house buyers what their dream homes would look like after renovation.
Series goes into production in New York next month and will debut on HGTV next winter, while a second season of "Cash in the Attic" is being shot across the U.S. and will start airing in April.
For A&E, Leopard is in production on one-hour documentary "Ransom City" to air late this year. The primetime special will follow an elite anti-kidnapping police squad in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Also in development is a docu series for A&E and "Cold Trail," an investigative series about British private detective Jacquie Davis for Court TV.
Elsewhere, Leopard has teamed with Canadian producers Telefactory and Corus Entertainment to make a pilot of the property format "Blank Canvas" for Canada's W Network.
