'Gore' flies at Open Sky

Garland, Duddy formed prod'n co. in 2004

Beverly Hills-based production company Open Sky Entertainment has announced its first trio of projects, including a remake of director Herschell Gordon Lewis' 1970 cult fave "The Wizard of Gore."

Hollywood marketing exec Glenn Garland and cinematographer-director Christopher Duddy formed Open Sky in 2004 along with financial partner Eric Rinestone.

Open Sky is producing "Wizard of Gore," now shooting in L.A., with Sick-O-Scope.

Jeremy Kasten is directing the horror film, about a master illusionist who is investigated for a string of gruesome murders. Crispin Glover, Kip Pardue, Bijou Phillips, Brad Dourif and Jeffrey Combs star.

Open Sky is in post on sequel "National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2," which it's co-producing with Hill & Brand Entertainment.

In May, Open Sky is skedded to begin production on thesp Joely Fisher's directorial debut, "Zoe's Bed," a modern-day take on "Plaza Suite."

Open Sky's mandate is to turn out films costing $2 million-$5 million. Also set to go into production this year are "The Cougar Club" and "Slots."
