Project will be produced by Saturn Films' partners Nicolas Cage and Norm Golightly along with WAM Films' Alain Chabat and Stephanie Danan.
Story centers on a glib man who comes to discover that he only has 1,000 words left to speak before he dies.
"Steve Koren has again crafted a hilarious yet meaningful tale," Golightly told Daily Variety.
The concept is not foreign territory for Koren, whose recent projects deal with sudden spiritual twists of fate for its male leads. He penned the Jim Carrey starrer "Bruce Almighty," about a man who is given God-like powers, and the upcoming Adam Sandler-toplined "Click" about a guy who is able to rewind and fast-forward scenes from his life. Koren will also receive executive producer credit on "Words."
Studio production topper Adam Goodman spearheaded the deal and will oversee development along with exec Marc Haimes.
