As the online entertainment biz explodes, the Internet has an ever-increasing number of its own content deals, development execs and stars.
All it's missing in going Hollywood is someone in the middle to take 10%.
Slingshot Media is aiming to fill that gap.
New agency, formed by former four former Yahoo! execs, is shopping offline and online entertainment brands to the major Internet media companies such as AOL, Microsoft's MSN, Yahoo, Google, Amazon and Interactive Corp.
First clients for the tenpercentery, which quietly launched in the middle of last year, include
Peter Guber's Mandalay Entertainment, "Loveline" co-host
Dr. Drew Pinsky, and Web animation company Icebox.
"This is an equivalent stage for where the TV business was 50 years ago," says Slingshot managing partner
Joel Wright.
Wright was the only exec in Slingshot's L.A. office on Feb. 8. His co-founders were in a location few Hollywood agents have ventured so far, but which is now at the top of the list for the new breed of dot-com tenpercenters: Microsoft's Redmond, Wash., HQ.
