Walking the 'Talk'

U, Fleder bring Boyle's identity-theft thriller to big screen

Universal Pictures has locked down film rights to "Talk Talk," an identity-theft thriller by novelist T.C. Boyle. Gary Fleder is attached to helm and produce through his Mojo Films banner.

Story concerns a woman who goes on a cross-country road trip to track down the man who's used her stolen identity to commit crimes.

Fleder's partner at Mojo, Mary Beth Basile, is also producing.

Fleder's previous helming credits include "Runaway Jury," "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead," "Don't Say a Word" and "Kiss the Girls."

Viking will publish "Talk Talk," Boyle's 17th book, in July.

He won the PEN/Faulkner Award for "World's End" and was a finalist for the National Book Award for "Drop City." Other titles include "After the Plague" and "Inner Circle."

U production prexy Jon Gordon and senior VP Erica Steinberg oversee the project.
