Lebo Babe lost half the hair on her head, suffered a concussion and had to spend a week in hospital after she was dragged behind a vehicle in a stunt that went wrong in the opening episode, broadcast on Jan. 23.
Local newspapers and radio talk shows were inundated with complaints about the "reckless and irresponsible" nature of the stunts and14 formal complaints were lodged at the Broadcasting Complaints Commission.
BCC administrator Donna Mohamed said the commission was investigating on the grounds of excessive violence. It could not pull the series off the air, but could punish the channel with a fine, she clarified.
