Pic was penned by Stephen Langford and produced through Media 8 Entertainment by Joe Anderson, Wendy Thorlakson and Sammy Lee.
Lance Bass, Stewart Hall, Matthew Leonetti Jr., Derek Elliott, Simon Lo and Kelli Konop served as exec producers.
TWC acquisitions exec Michelle Krumm brought the pic to the distrib and commented that the move brings another "family friendly" product to the Weinstein slate.
Unit has been bolstering its animation initiatives lately after recently closing a deal for $500 million in debt financing to add to the $490 million in equity Bob and Harvey Weinstein raised last fall.
Unit has since picked up North American rights to Exodus Film Group's upcoming CG-animated comedy "Igor"; the irreverent fairy tale take "Hoodwinked!" is in current release.
