Teaming with ironies

Disney adds Eisner's name to building

Lost amid the hoopla over the Disney-Pixar merger was the Jan. 23 renaming of the "Team Disney" executive office building as "Team Disney -- The Michael D. Eisner Building."

Huh?

Few in Hollywood would dispute that Eisner's management style at the Mouse House was far from team-oriented; "Darwinian" is probably a better word.

The infighting got so bad, according to bestseller "DisneyWar," that a management consultant told a group of Mouse House execs on a corporate retreat, "You guys are not a good team. You're not a team at all. You're not even a group."

Moreover, last week's rechristening came as one of Eisner's bitterest corporate adversaries, Pixar topper Steven Jobs, was in line to become Disney's largest shareholder (bumping Eisner to No. 3), a member of the board and possibly assume Eisner's old title of chairman.

No word yet on whether Jobs will have an office in the remonikered Eisner Building.
