Jennifer Love Hewitt is teaming with women's cabler Oxygen to exec produce "Angry Little Girls."

Cabler has greenlit production on the pilot based on the eponymous book and Web site. Site's weekly comic strip revolves around the adventures of a "South Park"-type group of girls living in an increasingly angry world. Girls separately are disenchanted, gloomy, crazy, fresh and angry.

"Angry Little Girls" was created by Lela Lee in response to what she found to be insulting Asian characters in other cartoons. She's cut her comedy chops with roles on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Will & Grace" and "Scrubs."

Untitled Entertainment is in negotiations to produce with Hewitt's Lovespell Entertainment. Lee will also produce.

Oxygen programming prexy Debby Beece called Lee's 'tude-driven toon a new category for women.

"It's definitely not the kind of thing you see every day," Beece said. "Girls aren't always sweetness and light. This is darker and funnier than what's out there aimed at women."

Oxygen has dabbled in animation before airing the original toon "Hey Monie," which had a second life on BET, and "X Chromosome."

Hewitt last starred in the original Oxygen movie "Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber," one of the network's highest rated telecasts.
