The Alliance is composed of some of the leading technology players from Intel, Modeo, Motorola, Nokia, and Texas Instruments -- and is planning to promote the practices that will deliver premium quality broadcast television to mobile devices in the North American market in a streamlined manner.
Director Broadcast Technologies, Motorola Mobile Devices, Rob Bero says, "Mobility is a necessity to our society. Take content with them wherever they go. Mobile TV will be the next driver."
DVB-H standard, an open procedure standard developed by the DVB Project, is currently supported by more than 100 companies working on DVB-H devices, services, and components. This standard has good mobile performance and is immune to multi-path fading.
By 2007, most U.S. markets are anticipated to have DVB-H infrastructure built out and ready for deployment.
