Chum licenses Czech music channel

Service expected to have 1.5 million viewers

Chum Intl. announced Monday that it has inked a licensing agreement with Much Czech to create a MuchMusic-style channel in the Czech Republic.

Much Czech is a new company set up by entrepreneur Nicolas Boissin and Stephen Kines, the head of Kines Development of Prague.

The service, based in Prague, will be launched this year and is expected to have 1.5 million viewers.

MuchMusic, which is owned and run by Toronto-based Chum, is Canada's leading musicvideo network. Much Czech will have exclusive rights to MuchMusic programming and creative services elements. The new station will have musicvideo programming, along with live performances and interviews with Czech stars.
