D'Works pitch lands cool mil

Studio looking to score with 'Dodgeball' team

DreamWorks has plunked down $1 million to pick up a pitch from the team behind "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" -- Ben Stiller, writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber and producer Stuart Cornfeld.

Thurber came up with the idea for the pic and will write and direct. Stiller and Cornfeld will also produce through their DreamWorks-based Red Hour Films.

Title and subject of the film are being kept under wraps. All that's known is it's a high-concept comedy.

DreamWorks execs John Fox and Jeremy Kramer are overseeing.

Red Hour and the studio are in pre-production on comedy "Blades of Glory." That pic, about rival Olympic ice skaters who eventually become a pairs team, will star Will Ferrell and Jon Heder. Stiller and Cornfeld are producing.

Stiller, repped by UTA, most recently lent his voice to the DreamWorks Animation pic "Madagascar." He next stars in "Night at the Museum."
