ESPN lobs Oz Open to Latin America

Net also scores rights to Wimbledon, U.S. Open

Tennis, alguien? ESPN has nabbed exclusive telecast rights to the Australian Open for Latin America.

Multiyear pact with Tennis Australia kicks off with Sunday's telecast to more than 40 countries across the region, including the Caribbean. ESPN will air all four Grand Slams in 2006 in Latin America.

ESPN's local nets ESPN Dos, ESPN Brazil, ESPN+ and its pan-regional signal will combine to air more than 100 hours of tournament coverage.

In addition to the Australian Open, ESPN also has telecast rights in Latin America to Roland Garros, Wimbledon (minus Brazil) and the U.S. Open. ESPN's relationship with Tennis Australia and the Australian Open also extends to the U.S., where the tournament is televised by both ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.
