LONDON -- Stephen Moore, formerly president of international at 20th Century Fox, has joined Bristol-based clay-animation studio Aardman as chief operating officer and head of features.

Moore moved back home to Blighty in September for family reasons after eight years heading Fox's overseas operations from Los Angeles.

Aardman has a five-film deal with DreamWorks, for which it has produced "Chicken Run," "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" and the upcoming "Flushed Away," its first foray into CG animation.

Company is also looking to revive "The Tortoise and the Hare," a project it closed down after a few months in production because of creative problems.

Part of Moore's task will be to bring a greater coherence and consistency to Aardman's maverick development process.

"You can't create great movies like Aardman do on a business plan, but they recognize the need for a more logical approach," Moore said.

In addition to movies, Aardman produces commercials and TV shows.
