Waters, the writer of "Heathers" and "Batman Returns," is also aboard to direct.
Dark comedy concerns a man whose life is upended by an email containing the names of every woman he's had sex with and every woman he ever will have sex with. "Sex and Death 101" is being pegged for a late May start, with casting under way.
"Daniel has written a remarkably fresh and funny script, and we completely believe in his ability to deliver a very smart and commercial movie," said Avenue CEO Cary Brokaw.
Brokaw is producing the project with his company's exec veep, Aaron Craig Geller, who brought the project in, serving as executive producer. Sandbar principals Lizzie Friedman and Greg Little will also produce.
Waters also is developing "The Diceman" for Paramount. That project will be directed by his brother, Mark Waters.
Avenue most recently produced "Closer," "William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice" and "Angels in America." Friedman and Little produced "A View From the Top" and "Mayor of the Sunset Strip" respectively.
