'Vanished' on Fox's docket

Berman pilot gets greenlight at net

"Vanished" has surfaced with a pilot greenlight at Fox.

The net also has picked up two additional scripts of the conspiracy thriller, which comes from "CSI" vet Josh Berman.

"Vanished" first landed at Fox last summer as a put pilot (Daily Variety, Aug. 25).

Pilot pickup means Berman's new deal with 20th Century Fox is already working out well for the studio. The scribe signed a four-year pact with 20th last April; "Vanished" is the first project to come out of that deal.

Berman wrote the pilot, which takes a topical look at the country's ongoing fascination with missing women. "Vanished" revolves around Sarah Collins, a senator's wife who goes missing as part of a larger conspiracy.

The story behind her disappearance will unfold throughout the season, as told through the eyes of law enforcement, family members and the media.

"Each week, more secrets will be revealed," Berman told Daily Variety in August. "We're going to have the thrill ride of an investigation, with a fantastic mystery at the heart of the show."

It's the second pilot season for Berman at Fox, where last year he created this fall's short-lived drama "Killer Instinct."

Berman continues to serve as exec producer of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
