Hoping to cash in on some pre-Oscar-voting viewing time, Fox has arranged for the director's cut of the pic to run at Los Angeles' Laemmle Fairfax Theater, where it opens today and runs through Jan. 6.
The extra 45 minutes of footage -- which brings the film to three hours and 10 minutes -- wasn't included on the "Kingdom of Heaven" DVD, released in October.
Besides indulging auds in more shots of Crusades-style sword fights and Orlando Bloom's winsome eyes, the screening will serve as a nudge to Oscar voters, reminding them that "King Kong" isn't the only pic with impressive effects this year.
Nor, apparently, is it the only one over three hours.
