New controller has yet to be appointed

Sky One topper James Baker has been moved sideways to become managing director of Sky Interactive as audience share for satcaster BSkyB's flagship entertainment web dips.

A new controller of Sky One has yet to be appointed, but whoever lands the gig will find it a challenging role.

Once Blighty's most popular non-terrestrial station, Sky One has been hit hard by growing competition from digital terrestrial service Freeview.Recently ITV2, also aimed at the under-35s and with a high quotient of U.S. fare, claimed a bigger audience share than Sky One.

Baker, who became head of Sky One in October 2003, begins his new job in January.
