The Eye relied on its stable of crime dramas to easily capture the week of Dec. 12-18, which featured plenty of repeats on every broadcast net.
CBS won in adults 18-49 with a 3.7 rating/10 share -- well ahead of the other major nets, which each drew an 8 share. The Eye now has won eight of the past 11 weeks in the industry's most-watched demo.
Net also rolled in adults 25-54 (4.7/12) and total viewers (12.2 million), accounting for nine of the week's 10 most-watched programs.
One week after "Survivor" wrapped its 11th edition with big numbers (Daily Variety, Dec. 14), the Dec. 12-18 frame saw the concluding episodes of two other veteran reality skeins -- CBS' "The Amazing Race 8" and NBC's "The Apprentice 4" -- both underperform recent seasons.
"Race," which went with a family edition this time, averaged a 4.7/12 in 18-49 and 11.5 million viewers overall for its two-hour finale on Tuesday, a big 31% decline in 18-49 from the show's seventh-edition finale last May. And "The Apprentice" (5.7/15, 12.81m) may have been among the week's top programs in demos, but it lagged the third edition's May finale by 8%.
Elsewhere during the week for first-place CBS, Thursday drama "CSI" was on top in 18-49 (5.8/14) and total viewers (17.67m) -- one of six CBS crime dramas among the frame's top 12 shows in 18-49.
"Criminal Minds," which according to CBS promos has "thrilled over 59 million viewers," settled for 15.23 million on Wednesday, winning its hour with a 4.7/12 in 18-49 and providing a nice lead-in for the slot-leading "CSI: NY" (5.5/15, 16.49m).
Also, "Numbers" led its Friday hour once again (3.4/11, 11.96m) as the net continues to dominate that night.
Of note at ABC, which aired repeats of its top series, was another good outing for a repeat of theatrical "The Santa Clause" (3.4/9 in 18-49, 10.02m) -- the net's best showing on a Thursday in 10 months.
Also, "Freddie" again led its Wednesday slot in 18-49 (3.0/9), and a special Tuesday episode of "Hope & Faith" drew that show's best scores since January (3.0/8 in 18-49, 8.02m).
Fox, which won the frame among viewers 12-34 (2.9/7), was paced by an original episode of "House" that led its Tuesday hour (5.2/13 in 18-49, 14.65m) and by a firstrun seg of Sunday laffer "The Simpsons" (4.9/13 in 18-49, 9.93m).
Also having a good week was "America's Most Wanted," which won in the ratings wars (2.8/9 in 18-49, 6.87m) and also helped capture the 871st fugitive in the show's 19 seasons.
For NBC, a one-hour episode of "Joey" delivered the show's best ratings of the season (3.4/9, 7.99m), while Friday's "Dateline" (2.4/8, 8.82m) matched the net's best showing in the 8-10 p.m. timeslot this season.
Net is generating no buzz at all, though, for the conclusion of "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart," as Wednesday's penultimate episode came in below average (2.1/6, 5.74m).
UPN used "WWE Smackdown" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.75m) and a repeat of "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" on Tuesday (1.5/4, 3.33m) to edge out the WB in adults 18-34 (1.6 to 1.4).
Frog got a boost from a Christmas-themed episode of "7th Heaven" (season-high 2.5/7, 6.48m), which led into the best results to date for rookie "Related" (1.5/4, 3.27m). Wednesday's repeat of classic Dr. Seuss toon "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" also drew a crowd (2.2/7, 5.23m).
ESPN, with NFL action on both Saturday and Sunday nights, led ad-supported cablers for the week with a 1.1 rating in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall.
