Beckinsale will play a small-town waitress who has suffered through a tumultuous relationship with her estranged husband (Rockwell).
Thesp's credits include "The Aviator," "Van Helsing," "Serendipity" and "Pearl Harbor." She has also carried genre pics "Underworld" and the upcoming "Underworld: Evolution," in theaters in January.
Gordon Green adapted the script from the novel by Stewart O'Nan. Crossroads Films is producing.
