FX has upped senior veep Nick Grad to exec VP and head of programming.
Grad fills in the position left vacant in May when former entertainment president John Landgraf was upped to prexy-general manager. Grad will continue to report directly to Landgraf.
In addition, cabler has pinned senior VP stripes on programming veeps Matt Cherniss and Eric Schrier, both of whom will report to Grad. All three execs are said to have inked three-year deals with the network.
Cherniss will continue to oversee comedy and drama development, while Schrier will manage current and alternative projects. Latter also adds longform to his plate, including potential event series "The Ten Commandments" from Section Eight. Division had been overseen by Gerard Bocaccio, who ankled for a post at Silver Pictures TV over the summer (Daily Variety, July 26).
Landgraf said keeping the creative team responsible for FX hits like "The Shield" and "Nip/Tuck" intact has been vital to the success of the net.
"What you have here are all the executives who've been involved with branding our series programming since FX's inception," Landgraf said. "These guys have been involved in every episode of original programming since 'The Shield' went on the air. Nick's got a good beat on what FX stands for, and it will be the job of this team to evolve that brand."
Grad and Cherniss have developed all of FX's series programming, including upcoming heist drama "Thief," Denis Leary's "Rescue Me" and laffer "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
They'll oversee new pilots "Lowlife," a dark comedy from Eddie Izzard, and "Dirt," from Coquette Prods. Both execs joined FX in 2002.
Schrier was instrumental in the launch of Morgan Spurlock's docu series "30 Days" and upcoming reality show "Black. White." He joined the cabler as an assistant in 2000.
