Writers Guild makes 'Big, Big' deal

Org reaches agreement on two-year contract

The Writers Guild of America East has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with Big Big Prods. for the upcoming children's show, "It's a Big, Big World."

The announcement comes four months after the WGA launched a strike against Big Big over its use of non-union writers with multiple pickets against producer Mitchell Kriegman outside LTV Studios in Wainscott, N.Y.

The Guild had contended that Kriegman had proposed a 66% pay cut and insisted on virtually eliminating residuals for six years while Kriegman had asserted he was offering wages and benefits that exceeded industry standards.

"It's a Big, Big World," produced for PBS Kids, will air in January.
