Football carries ABC Monday

Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

On a night with repeats on other nets, the "Monday Night Football" game between the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles lifted ABC to a primetime ratings victory, according to preliminary Nielsen nationals.

Reliable prelims are murky for the Alphabet's live football game, but the Seahawks' 42-0 rout of the Eagles averaged a 5.5 rating/13 share in adults 18-49 and 14.2 million viewers overall from 9 to 11 on ABC's affils. Game averaged a 10.9 household rating/17 share in Nielsen's metered-market overnights, a respectable score for such a lopsided contest.

CBS put up good repeat numbers to place second, led as usual by "CSI: Miami" (4.9/12 in 18-49, 15.0 million viewers overall) and "Two and a Half Men" (4.8/11 in 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall).

NBC was paced by an original episode of "Las Vegas" at 9 (4.2/10 in 18-49, 12.6 million viewers overall), Fox by a special "Nanny 911" at 9 (2.4/6 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall). Also for Fox, an original episode of laffer "Arrested Development" at 8 was at its season average (2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) despite a lengthy layoff.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 5.1/13; CBS, 4.2/11; NBC, 3.3/8; Fox, 2.2/5; UPN, 1.2/3; WB, 1.1/3.

In total viewers: ABC, 13.4 million; CBS, 12.5 million; NBC, 10.0 million; Fox, 4.7 million; WB, 2.9 million; UPN, 2.8 million.
