Pair goes after 'Before'

'Noise' scribe Johnson penning supernatural thriller

The Hal Lieberman Company and Gold Circle Films are partnering on the supernatural thriller "Before." Lieberman will produce with Gold Circle's Paul Brooks, whose company is handling the independent financing of the film.

Written by Niall Johnson ("White Noise"), pic centers around a therapist who investigates a series of deaths at a psychiatric hospital only to uncover a world of supernatural spirits, possession and reincarnation.

In January, Lieberman will begin production on "Bridge to Terabithia" for Disney and Walden Media. He is in preproduction on the Screen Gems horror pic "Vacancy," which will shoot next summer, and is developing "Big Man on Campus," written by Gina Wendkos, for Columbia, where he is based.

Gold Circle recently purchased the remake rights to the South Korean romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl," which Gurinder Chadha is directing. Later this month, Gold Circle will begin shooting "Because I Said So," starring Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore; Universal is distribbing the pic domestically.
