Jones worked with topper Daniel Battsek for the past seven years at Buena Vista Intl. in London. She was widely expected to join the new Miramax in some capacity when Battsek relocated to Gotham.
Jones was instrumental in picking up South African import "Tsotsi" and basketball docu "Heart of the Game" for Miramax at Toronto this year.
"Kristin has a fantastic record not only for finding great projects but in skillfully developing them and then getting the movies made," Battsek said.
Jones said the mini-major will roll out about eight to 10 pics per year, mixing a slate of finished films and projects developed inhouse.
She will work on domestic productions and supervise all international production and development; she also will be involved in acquisition and co-production activity for Miramax.
Jones most recently oversaw BVI's London-based comedy label, created in 1999. There she worked on such pics as Nigel Cole's "Calendar Girls" and Julian Jarrold's current U.K. release "Kinky Boots."
Jones was previously an agent at ICM in L.A.
