Thomas Haden Church is joining Ice Cube in the remake of "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House," which Steve Carr is directing for Revolution Studios.
Shooting is skedded to begin in May in upstate New York.
Written by Hank Nelken, pic is a remake of the classic 1948 comedy that starred Cary Grant and Myrna Loy as a couple who chuck their Manhattan apartment for a big house in the suburbs. The fixer-upper proves to be a nightmare.
In the new version, Ice Cube will play Mr. Blandings, the role originated by Grant. Haden Church will play Chuck, the contractor who takes on the challenge of renovating Mr. Blanding's house.
Ted Hartley, Todd Garner, Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez are producing. Carr, Heidi Santelli and Aaron Ray are exec producing. Derek Dauchy is overseeing for Revolution.
Haden Church is starring as the villain Sandman in Sony's "Spider-Man 3," due out in summer 2007. He's also lending his voice to Paramount's "Charlotte's Web" as Brooks the dimwitted cow.
