Sprint has ponied up a record $12 million to be the sole sponsor of the 12-minute halftime show, presided over by exec producer Don Mischer, who did the honors at last year's halftime show in Jacksonville featuring Paul McCartney.
There'll be a delay of between five and 10 seconds in the live performance; the NFL wants to avoid a repeat of the controversy that ensued when one of Janet Jackson's breasts was exposed briefly on the live show two years ago.
During the last halftime, McCartney performed four numbers, and, although Mischer is still working out the details, he said the Stones will probably also do four.
Super Bowl XL will take place Feb. 5 in Detroit and air live on ABC.
