
Ang Lee's 'Brokeback Mountain' is among the non-European films nominated.
Four American pics are among the 11 nominated for the European Film Academy's non-European film of the year award, which will be dished out in Berlin at EFA's annual awards bash Dec. 3.
Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain," Jim Jarmusch's "Broken Flowers," Paul Haggis' "Crash" and George Clooney's "Good Night, and Good Luck" are in the running for the prize.
Three of the other hopefuls also are their country's foreign-language Oscar contender: Gavin Hood's "Tsotsi" (South Africa), Jean-Marc Vallee's "C.R.A.Z.Y." (Canada) and Eric Khoo's "Be With Me" (Singapore.)
Other pics nommed are Carlos Reygadas' "Battle in Heaven" (France/Mexico/Germany/Belgium), Fernando Meirelles' "The Constant Gardener" (U.K./Germany/Kenya), Sarah Watt's "Look Both Ways" (Australia) and Park Chan-Wook's "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (South Korea).
