Chris Morgan, who penned Universal's upcoming tentpole "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift," has been tapped by the studio to adapt comicbook "The Psycho."
Series, created by Dan Brereton and James Hudnall, is about a world where individuals attain superpowers by taking an unpredictable and potentially lethal drug. Protag is a rogue CIA agent who risks insanity and becomes a "psycho" himself in order to rescue his g.f. and expose a political conspiracy.
David Engel is producing "The Psycho" for Circle of Confusion, with partners Lawrence Mattis and Jason Lust exec producing.
U production veep Jeff Kirschenbaum oversees the project.
Morgan has had several rewrite assignments and received credit on "Cellular," but his big break was the scripting assignment for the third installment of "Fast and Furious." Japan-set sequel, a near-complete break from the first two films, is set for release June 16.
Circle of Confusion has several other projects in development at U, including "Jinx," "Outcast," "Magic Kingdom for Sale" and an untitled sci-fi pic from Brett Matthews and Simon Kinberg.
