Company is planning a three-picture adventure trilogy about a teenager who discovers he can teleport from one place to another.
"Fight Club" scribe Jim Uhls will rewrite a script by David Goyer; production will begin in spring.
The 17-year-old protag first learns that he can "jump" when he escapes his abusive father.
Pic will be produced by Lucas Foster and Simon Kinberg, the producer and writer of the Liman-directed "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
New Regency heads David Matalon and Sanford Panitch are bringing back many of the production and special effects staffs from that pic.
Jay Sanders also is producing, and Created By's Ralph Vicinanza and Vince Gerardis exec produce.
New Regency is financing a Robert Luketic-directed "Dallas" remake, has co-financed with Fox a "Big Momma's House" sequel and teamed with Warner Bros. to finance the Darren Aronofsky-directed "The Fountain," starring Hugh Jackman.
Company also financed "Date Movie," the spoof "Scary Movie" scribes Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer wrote and directed.
