Webs divvy up Tuesday wealth

NBC, CBS lead; Fox's 'House' hot

'The Biggest Loser'

The latest installment of 'Biggest Loser' drew NBC's best score at 8 o'clock in 10 months.

Fox's "House" was Tuesday's top show among young adults, but it was NBC and CBS who split the night's overall ratings honors.

The Peacock rode good numbers from "Biggest Loser," "My Name Is Earl" and "Law & Order: SVU" to a winning perf among adults 18-49, while nice showings by "NCIS" and "Amazing Race" carried CBS to the winner's circle in both adults 25-54 and total viewers, according to Nielsen.

Not looking as good as in recent outings on the first Tuesday of the sweep were rookie dramas "Bones" on Fox, "Commander in Chief" on ABC and "Supernatural" on the WB, each of which hit lows in adults 18-49.

NBC's seventh Tuesday 18-49 victory in eight weeks this season was paced by the timeslot-leading "Law & Order: SVU" at 10 (5.2/13 in 18-49, 15.76 million viewers overall) and "My Name Is Earl" at 9 (5.2/13, 11.57m).

"Biggest Loser 2" also excelled for NBC (4.0/11 in 18-49, 10.15m), drawing the net's best scores in the 8 o'clock hour in 10 months and closing the demo gap with CBS' strong "NCIS" (4.2/11, 17.79m). Latter was up 17% in 18-49 vs. its opening November delivery of a year ago.

Also for NBC, "The Office" (3.8/9 in 18-49, 7.46m) remained fourth at 9:30 in 18-49 but matched its best retention of "Earl" to date (73%). And at CBS, a two-hour episode of "Amazing Race 8" hit season highs (4.6/11 in 18-49, 10.84m), enabling the Eye to finish within a tick of NBC for the night in 18-49 (4.6/12 to 4.5/11).

Fox's "House" (5.3/13 in 18-49, 14.15m) edged out NBC's top shows as Tuesday's No. 1 draw in 18-49, having to work harder since lead-in "Bones" (2.8/7, 6.85m) dipped 12% week-to-week.

ABC's "Commander in Chief" (3.8/9 in 18-49, 14.78m) seems to be affected by the recent return of "House," dipping to its lowest 18-49 score. It ranked second for the hour in 25-54 (5.4/12) and first in total viewers, up slightly in both week-to-week.

"Commander" could use some help from its lead-in, "Rodney" (2.6/7, 7.50m), which ran fifth in 18-49. ABC's leadoff laffer "According to Jim" tied for third (2.7/7, 7.83m), and 10 o'clock drama "Boston Legal" ran third in 18-49 (3.5/9, 11.76m), on par with its average, and hit a season high in 18-34 (2.5/7).

At 8, the WB's "Gilmore Girls" (2.6/7, 5.84m) nearly caught "Bones" in 18-49 and won in females 12-34 (4.4/13). At 9, though, "Supernatural" hit series lows (1.7/4, 4.47m).

UPN was above average at 9 with its Patti LaBelle tribute spec (1.3/3, 3.23m).
