New Line has preemptively snapped up an untitled comedy pitch from Brad Copeland and set it up with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman at Mandeville Films. Deal was for high six figures.

Project's a buddy comedy with romantic elements, but the studio's keeping further details under wraps.

Mandeville VP Dorian Howard brought the project into the shingle. New Line's Kathy Busby and Keith Goldberg are overseeing for the studio.

Copeland's been developing a pair of feature comedy scripts for Disney-based Tollin/Robbins -- "Corporate Retreat" and "Wild Hogs." He's also an Emmy-nominated writer-producer on Fox's comedy skein "Arrested Development" and recently signed a two-year, seven-figure overall development deal with the net.

Disney-based Mandeville's producing "Eight Below" and "The Shaggy Dog," with both set for release next year by the studio. It's in post-production on "Five Fingers" for Lions Gate and is developing "Swiss Family Robinson" for the Mouse House.
