Some behind-the-scenes drama on the set of "Desperate Housewives" has led to the departure of new cast member Page Kennedy.

Kennedy, who played mysterious man-in-the-basement Caleb, was dismissed from the show Friday, people familiar with the situation confirmed. He's already been replaced by newcomer Nashawn Kearse.

Reps for "DH" producer Touchstone Television weren't commenting on the reasons behind Kennedy's exit.

However, people familiar with the situation said it stemmed from allegations of improper conduct by the actor toward a member of the crew. Kennedy's agent did not return a call seeking comment.

Kearse has had guest spots on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Deadline." He also appeared in the features "Taxi" and "Marci X."
