In Levinson's "Man," which starts lensing Nov. 28 in Toronto, Linney stars opposite Robin Williams. Williams plays a Jon Stewart-like host of a latenight talkshow who runs for president only to see the stunt backfire when he actually wins due to a set of unusual circumstances. Linney plays the head of a computer company that investigates those circumstances. Christopher Walken also stars.
Morgan Creek topper James G. Robinson is producing. Morgan Creek, which has a distribution pact with Universal Pictures, most recently produced the Al Pacino-Matthew McConaughey sports drama "Two for the Money."
Linney will also star alongside Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillippe in Ray's "Breach" for Universal. Spy thriller tells the story of FBI traitor Robert Hanssen, who sold secrets to the Soviet Union during the Cold War and later to Russia. Linney is set to play an FBI agent who is in charge of Phillippe's character. Lensing starts Nov. 16 in Toronto followed by scenes in Washington, D.C.
Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE) will co-finance and internationally distribute "Breach" with Universal Pictures and is taking a producer credit on the pic. The film, written and directed by Billy Ray ("Shattered Glass"), is based on an original screenplay by Adam Mazer and Bill Rotko. Universal Pictures will oversee production and retain all North American rights to the film. Intermedia's Scott Kroopf is producing with Bobby Newmyer and Scott Strauss at Outlaw Films.
Linney currently stars in the indie "The Squid and the Whale"; upcoming releases including "Jindabyne" and "Driving Lessons."
