Sony rockin' with Meyers

Herzfeld to pen pic for Col

HOLLYWOOD -- Nancy Meyers has set up her first project at Sony that she won't write or direct, selling an original pitch she conceived with Diane English.

Comedy is set in the world of rock 'n' roll. Columbia Pictures has set "Meet the Parents" scribe Jim Herzfeld to write.

Meyers' shingle, Waverly Films, has a first-look deal at Sony. She and English will produce the pic. A director isn't yet attached.

Meyers is working on the romantic comedy "Holiday," starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black, for Sony.

"Murphy Brown" creator English is working on "The First Man," her feature helming debut, which she also wrote.

Besides "Parents" and its sequel "Meet the Fockers," Herzfeld also wrote a draft of "Toy Story 3" for Disney. He previously wrote on skein "Double Rush," which English co-created.

Columbia execs Amy Baer and Adam Milano are overseeing the project along with Waverly's Jennifer Eatz.

Meyers last teamed with Sony on "Something's Gotta Give," which made $124 million.
