Stiller lands 'Night' watch

New Fox art in 'Museum'

Ben Stiller will star in "A Night at the Museum" for 20th Century Fox.

Studio is prepping the family laffer as its major entrant for next year's holiday season.

Stiller will play a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History who unwittingly unleashes a curse that brings to life the bugs and animals on display.

Helming will be Shawn Levy, who directed Fox's "Cheaper by the Dozen." That pic turned into a $139 million hit for Fox after its Christmas 2003 release.

Role marks the first commitment for Stiller since "Meet the Fockers" opened last Christmas and went on to take in $515 million worldwide. During a busy 2004 for the thesp, Stiller also starred in Fox's "Dodgeball."

Levy has since helmed "The Pink Panther," which Sony has skedded for a Feb. 10 release.

Producing "Museum" are Levy's newly formed Fox-based shingle 21 Laps and Chris Columbus' 1492 Prods.

Script was penned by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant; Scott Frank did a rewrite.
