Revolution won't release 'Freedomland,' starring Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson until Feb. 17.

"Freedomland" has been pushed out of 2005.

Revolution Studios has decided to drop plans for a weeklong Academy-qualifying run in Los Angeles for the Joe Roth-helmed police thriller and has pushed back its wide release from Jan. 13 to Feb. 17, the beginning of President' Day weekend.

Pic stars Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson. Richard Price ("Sea of Love," "Ransom") is adapting a novel.

Revolution partner Tom Sherak told Daily Variety that when the film was screened, "It played broader than a little movie."

With plans to go for a wide opening, Sherak said, the January date looked too crowded.

"We're going to sell it like 'Ransom,' " he said.
