Garcia dealt an 'Aces' gig

Thesp joining Piven, Reynolds, Keys in action comedy

Andy Garcia has pacted to make the Joe Carnahan-directed "Smokin' Aces" his next film job.

Garcia will join Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds, Alicia Keys and Ben Affleck in the action comedy about an illusionist who snitches on the mob and has hitmen after him. Garcia will play the FBI director who tries to keep the cocky entertainer around long enough to testify. Universal and Working Title produce.

Garcia will spend Saturday screening his directorial debut, "The Lost City," for Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and his wife Columba as part of the state's Hispanic heritage celebration.

"The Lost City," a love story set in the backdrop of 1950s Havana, stars Garcia, Dustin Hoffman and Bill Murray. Pic, which took Garcia 16 years to mount, debuted at the Telluride Film Festival last month and will screen at the AFI Fest next month. Lions Gate is handling foreign territories on the film, and Garcia's Paradigm reps are in the midst of negotiating a domestic distribution deal.
