The Anthony Page-directed play opens at the Lyric Theater on Nov. 23; Bill Kenwright produces. The play will run through March 25.
Harrelson, who just opened in the films "North Country" and "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio," will play the defrocked priest T. Lawrence Shannon. In deep conflict over his sexual desires, he arrives at a rundown coastal hotel run by an earthy widow (Clare Higgins) and encounters the spinsterish Hannah (Jenny Seagrove). Tensions build among the trio.
Harrelson's last stint on London's West End came in "On an Average Day" in 2002.
Higgins, who won Olivier Awards for "Sweet Bird of Youth" and "Vincent in Brixton," is performing in "Death of a Salesman" at the Lyric, while Seagrove has starred in "Brief Encounter," "The Constant Wife" and "The Secret Rapture" at the same theater on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Page most recently directed the Broadway revivals of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." He directed the West End productions of "The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?" and "A Delicate Balance." Page won a Tony for the Janet McTeer starrer "A Doll's House."
