Berman shingle gets exec

Hannibal beams aboard development team

Ellie Hannibal has been tapped to head up development for "Star Trek" guru Rick Berman's Paramount-based small-screen shingle.

Hannibal will serve as senior VP, working with Berman to develop concepts and produce series programming for his self-titled company. Berman is in the middle of a rich eight-figure overall deal with Par, and this year reps the first development season for the producer since "Star Trek Enterprise" left the air in May.

Hannibal helped developed ABC's critically hailed "Karen Sisco" and the Comedy Central hit "Reno 911!" during her run as senior VP of development for Jersey. She started her career at Jim Henson Television, rising to the veepee level and working on skeins such as "Farscape."

In addition to "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and follow-ups "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager" and "Enterprise," Berman produced and had co-story credit on "Trek" features "Generations," "First Contact," "Insurrection" and "Nemesis."
