Paramount is sending Adam Sztykiel to "Nerd Camp," its feature project about summer programs for gifted children that's being developed by Nickelodeon Films and Tollin/Robbins Prods.
Sztykiel will pen the script. Par set up "Nerd Camp" last year, optioning film rights to Burkhard Bilger's New Yorker article about summer programs for gifted kids. Nick senior VP Julia Pistor and TRP co-toppers Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins are producing.
Project's envisioned as the tale of a group of children who spend the summer taking college-level courses at a "nerd camp" and redefine what it means to be cool.
Deal marks the third assignment for Sztykiel this year following "Ditch Day" for Fox and State Street and "Adopted" for Working Title. Credits include "Bad News Inc." for Working Title, "Power Trip" for DreamWorks and "Made of Honor" for Sony.
Nick and Tollin/Robbins co-produced "Good Burger" in 1997 and TRP partnered with MTV Films on Paramount's "Coach Carter."
