WB exec takes on pix, vid

Whitney promoted to newly created post

With release windows collapsing, Warner Bros. Pictures senior VP of worldwide media advertising Lynn Whitney will now be responsible for Warner Home Video as well.

Whitney becomes the first divisional exec whose duties extend over both homevideo and films.

Her promotion to the newly created post was announced by Warner Bros. Pictures president for domestic marketing Dawn Taubin and Warner Home Video North America exec VP-general manager Ron Sanders.

"As the window between theatrical and homevideo releases grows smaller all the time, it makes good sense for us to bring Lynn's skills and buying power to bear on both divisions," Taubin said.

Whitney will oversee the development, planning, scheduling and purchase of media tied to advertising campaigns for film and homevid releases in the U.S. and Canada.

She and her team will utilize economies of scale to give Warners a competitive advantage in its media strategies and buys.

Sanders said Whitney's experience and judgment would help keep Warner Home Video at the "forefront of the ferociously competitive" homevideo biz.

Whitney joined the studio in 1992 as director of international media and was promoted to VP in 1996. She was named to her current post in 1999.

Previously, she worked at Fox Broadcasting Co.
