'Eleven' lures in New Line

Studio makes time for 'Minutes'

New Line and Hollywood Gang Prods. have gotten into bed on a feature adaptation of "Eleven Minutes," the sex-laced bestseller by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho.

The book's title refers to the duration of a sexual act and the novel is about the sexual awakening of a Brazilian woman who heads to Geneva with visions of being a dancer. By the time she returns home, she is hardened and cynical after a stint as a high-priced call girl.

Since being published in 2003, "Eleven Minutes" sold more than 5.5 million copies in 40 languages. Hollywood Gang will distribute the film in Latin America, Italy and Germany. New Line will control other territories and will set a writer shortly.

The deal was made by New Line production prexy Toby Emmerich. Gianni Nunnari will produce with Nathalie Peter-Contesse and Craig J. Flores.

Nunnari is also producing the Paolo Virzi-directed "N" and the Zack Snyder-directed "300."
