Martin, Rudin play 'Nice'

Producer to pony up for project

"Arrested Development" writer and co-exec producer Chuck Martin will script and direct the comic feature "Mr. Nice Guy." The film will be produced by Scott Rudin and Dan Halsted.

Rudin, who is in the process of moving his deal to Disney from Paramount, bought the project with his own coin and hasn't yet set it up at a studio. Pitch is described as a farce in the vein of "Office Space" in which the protag attempts a seemingly mundane task, but mishaps snowball and turn his life upside down. Deal was in the mid-six figures.

Martin, who directed the season finale of "Arrested Development," will make his feature directing debut on the film. He's also writing "Most Likely to Succeed," an Imagine-produced comedy at Universal comedy to be directed by Martin's "Arrested Development" cohorts Joe and Anthony Russo, with the sitcom's star, Will Arnett, toplining.

Rudin exec Mark Roybal will oversee the comedy.
