The Weinsteins have yet to announce theatrical distrib plans for their temporarily monikered new entity, which officially launches Oct. 1, when they exit Miramax Films.
Last month the Weinstein Co. and IFC partnered to pick up North American rights to the thriller "Unknown," starring Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, Joe Pantoliano, Bridget Moynahan and Jeremy Sisto.
In Cannes the Weinsteins announced an agreement with Cablevision's Rainbow Media Holdings, corporate parent to IFC, AMC and WE, that pairs the companies in home entertainment distribution, foreign sales and the creation of a new library for the cable nets.
The banners have a history together: IFC partnered with the Weinsteins and Lions Gate, on the release of Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," after Disney blocked Miramax from releasing the pic. IFC and Miramax then partnered on a theatrical rollout of Gallic import "Les Choristes."
