Studio has signed "Herbie: Fully Loaded" helmer Angela Robinson to a seven-figure deal to co-write and direct the action comedy she pitched with co-writer Alex Kondracke.
Story concerns a young woman who finds herself embroiled in a secret government operation that turns her into a cyborg.
Robinson will produce via her Pink Thunder shingle along with partners Larry Kennar and Lisa Stewart.
Filmmaker has a first-look deal at Disney, but ended up taking this pic, which is darker than most Mouse House fare, to New Line.
"Genbot" is one of the first projects set up by the recently established Pink Thunder. Kennar was a co-producer on "50 First Dates" and exec produced Robinson's "D.E.B.S.," while Stewart was a co-producer on "Herbie" and "Almost Famous."
George Waud and Swanna MacNair are overseeing for New Line.
