Duo catch 'Boomerang'

Berger, Yerxa team with Mandate for Mottern movie

Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are teaming up with Mandate Pictures to produce "Boomerang," a coming-of-age comedy from Nichols Fellowship winner James Mottern.

Mandate will be fully financing the pic and handling worldwide sales.

Story concerns an eccentric man who thinks his parents continue to cross strange boundaries.

Berger and Yerxa's upcoming releases include Focus Features' "Ice Harvest," directed by Harold Ramis and starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and Fox Searchlight's "Bee Season," directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel and starring Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche.

Mandate Pictures was officially formed in January, when four-year-old Senator Intl. completed a management buyout from German indie giant Senator Entertainment. Company is in production on "Stranger Than Fiction," directed by Marc Forster.
