Simultaneously, the shingle has upped Greg Spring to VP of development, where he'll oversee all of Pie Town's development, including packaging reality concepts and casting on-air talent.
In Chi, Pie Town -- which boasts a newly hired staff of 20 -- will produce new versions of its hit HGTV skeins "Designed to Sell" and "Design on a Dime." Pie Town will continue to produce versions of the shows in Los Angeles as well, enabling the company to double output of the show and diversify its locales.
Jim Lichtenstein ("The Today Show") will head the Chicago "Designed to Sell" team, while Sharon Barrett ("Investigative Reports") oversees the city's "Design on a Dime" production staff.
"Chicago offered fantastic people, beautiful architecture and a deep pool of highly skilled producers and on-air talent," Pie Town co-founder Tara Sandler said of the decision to expand in the Midwest.
Pie Town, which was also founded by Jennifer Davidson and Scott Templeton, already has commitments to produce more than 400 episodes of lifestyle series over the next year, including new entries "Rachel's Tasty Travels" on the Food Network and "House Hunters International" on HGTV.
The company's ongoing slate include the Rachael Ray-hosted "$40 a Day" on Food Network and "Designers' Challenge," "reDesign" and "Weekend Warriors" on HGTV.
Spring has been with Pie Town since 2001, having previously served as director of development at the company. His credits at Pie Town include creating the syndicated daytime series "Life Moments."
Before that, Spring was director of programming and development at King World Prods.
Templeton said the promotion recognized Spring's part on Pie Town's "rapid expansion and recent success."
"Greg's contribution will be just as vital to our future," he said.
