Reality show 'Brat Camp' pitched its tent Wednesday night with an impressive preem on ABC.

One week after summer smash "Dancing With the Stars" ended its run, ABC retained its Wednesday supremacy with a stout start for unscripted skein "Brat Camp."

Six-week series from Shapiro/Grodner Prods., which subjects unruly teens to "wilderness therapy," dominated its two hours Wednesday, rising sharply in ratings from its first half-hour to the last.

According to Nielsen, "Brat Camp" averaged a 3.9 rating/12 share in adults 18-49 and 10.4 million viewers overall for the third-highest unscripted launch this summer in the demo, behind "Dancing With the Stars" and NBC's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" (which later fizzled out).

"Brat" was especially strong in the 9 o'clock hour, where it will regularly air, more than doubling any other broadcast net. It also showed an ideal balance among various age groups, in its final half-hour commanding a 13 share in adults 18-49, 25-54 and 18-34 -- as well as teens.

Among the "Brat Camp" victims were CBS' unscripted pair "The Cut" (fourth-place 1.4/5 in 18-49, 3.88m) and "Rock Star" (third-place 2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.67m for its first results episode). Also, Fox's cop drama "The Inside" remains a modest draw at 9 (fourth-place 1.8/6, 4.26m).

The WB got pretty good mileage out of a reunion episode of its unscripted series "Beauty and the Geek" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 3.17m), which wrapped a week earlier. It placed third at 8 in persons 12-34 (1.6/6).
